HISTORY
Jaume Bargués Ars, born in Viver de Segarra, and his wife Librada Rich, a native of Noales, moved to live in Barcelona and in 1942 leased and then bought a place at number 98 Provença Street, an unpaved road in those years. They set up a tavern-bar for customers in those years humble-almost all were humble, before which there was a trough for the horses of the landfill and transporters who frequented his shop.
Gradually book was prepared and cooked dishes that delighted his increasingly numerous and more select clientele. The basis of the cuisine came from the family recipes and also what you learned in a convent when she arrived in the city.
In 1960, for fifty years, entered the restaurant his son Jaume Bargués Rich and due to his business that was booming in 1980 moved to number 88 on the same street Provença, and set up a new restaurant, with all ets i uts, which today is virtually unchanged from the day of its opening, maintaining a level continent, personality, conservation and outstanding strength.
James is a self-taught, more reader traveler, who further developed the recipes of his mother.
In 1981 he awarded a Michelin star which retained 19 years and for several decades was one of the most renowned restaurants and media centers of Barcelona. The cuisine is still market and Mediterranean.
